  Community Partners: Trevette Elementary

  Schools lay at the heart of the community as the constant link that tie people together. Each year Patient First donates to multiple schools in the Mid-Atlantic region to help support the needs of its students.  This year Maude Trevette Elementary School in Richmond, Virginia decided to focus their donation on the purchase of ukeleles.  Music instruction is a great way to help regulate emotions and focus on social and emotional development.  It also creates community, a sense of achievement, and is a great way to build self-confidence.  We hope that these musical instruments allow the kids a comfortable form of self-expression, while creating enjoyable interactions amongst their peers.

  Community Partners: Nitrauer Elementary School

  Every year, Patient First selects two elementary schools near each of its 77 centers as a community partner in an effort to further support the health and growth of neighborhood it serves. Our partnership begins with a donation to the school to fund projects or programs that directly benefit the students of each of our partner schools, but it doesn't end there. We continue to engage with the faculty, students and parents at each of these schools through community events like back-to-school nights, family resource nights, health and wellness fairs, school fun runs, and even fall and spring festivals. This week, we are showcasing Nitrauer Elementary as our Partner School of the Week. Located just minutes from our Lancaster center, Nitrauer has been a committed partner with Patient First for several years. This year, Patient First will be helping Nitrauer Elementary fund student assemblies, and a program of lunches recognizing good student behavior, culminating in a recognition of outstanding students for each quarter.   Community Partners: Brookfield Elementary

  Patient First has longstanding partnerships with many local schools in the Greater D.C. area. Recently, Patient First partnered with Brookfield Elementary PTA to sponsor their annual Fun Run. The school is located near the Patient First Chantilly center. A total of 700+ students from Pre-k to 6th grade spent the day running laps around the track. Each grade level was given 40 minutes to run as many laps as possible. The students were greeted by the school mascot "Buddy the Bronco," who cheered them on through the entire race. The students also danced and sang through some of the laps with the encouraging music. Every student was given a unique shirt color to help build camaraderie and team spirit. The event embodied team building, school spirt and health and wellness. Even some of the teachers joined in to walk and run next to their students. The students were all smiles from start to finish. Patient First would like to shout out the amazing Brookfield Elementary PTA team, staff and students and look forward to the continuation our partnership.

  Cooper Lane Elementary Community Block Party

  Cooper Lane Elementary School and the community held their Block Party on Friday, August 25th. Patient First is a proud sponsor of this event, and happy to be back! The event was held outside at the school's blacktop/playground area. It was a very hot and sunny day, but in spite of the heat we had lots of families lined up around noon. There was music playing for the entirety of the event, as well as snacks and free backpacks. Parents and students were also able to meet and greet their teachers.  Our Landover location is a mile down the road, so everyone that came to our table knew of Patient First! We heard great things about the care we provide, and how smooth-sailing everything is. We got a lot of questions regarding what school immunizations we provide and our self-pay pricing. Overall, we had a great time, everyone was so kind and grateful.  Patient First wishes an amazing school year to all the teachers and students at Cooper Lane Elementary! We hope to see you again next year.

  Algonkian Elementary Invention Night: Handwashing Demonstration

  More than 400 people attended Algonkian Elementary's Invention Night on February 28. The event's goal was to empower students to make meaningful contributions to the world, using Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. It's aim was also to provide access points for guiding and exciting student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. There were many hands-on activities, demonstrations, and experiments. Some companies brought technology for students and parents to view, and learn how technology impacts the world. This was our first year participating in this event, and we were asked to showcase a demonstration illustrating the importance of proper hand washing techniques. Our demonstration sessions began with a Patient First nurse leading students to cover their hands with a special "Glo Germ" solution.  That solution would light up as a black light was passed over their hands. Next, the nurse had the students wash their hands as they normally would. A second pass of the black light showed the students the germs all the little blotches and crevices where the solution remained, illustrating how germs could still linger on their hands.   Patient First Sponsors Community Youth Advance 5k Run

  Since 2018, Community Youth Advance has hosted an annual “A Mother’s Love 5K Run” that has brought families out from all across the Greater DC region for a fun and engaging 5K to promote health, wellness and community. Community Youth Advance is dedicated to advancing the academic, social, and career opportunities of boys and girls by providing them and their families, with academic enrichment, mentorship, college prep assistance and access to career training. Community Youth Advance provides comprehensive educational and character-based programming for students in grades K-12. More than 200 participants gathered on Saturday, May 14 from all over the Greater DC region for the 5k run. After the run there was music, games, entertainment and a photo booth for participants to enjoy.  Patient First, a proud supporter of Community Youth Advance and their mission to help youth in the community, was excited to be a part of such a great cause.
