  McIntosh Elementary School Rhythm and Wellness Night

  McIntosh Elementary School, located in Newport News, VA, hosted its inaugural Rhythm and Wellness Concert, Bookfair, and Fitness Night on February 29th. Led by the incredible talents of the school's second and third graders, students and their families sang, read, danced, drummed, stretched and learned as they embraced the beat, ignited their fitness journey, and delved into the world of literature all in one unforgettable night. Around every corner of the school was an activity to participate in. Patient First, who was positioned in the front of the school, offered parents, teachers and administrators free blood pressure screenings, many of whom took advantage of the opportunity.  The school itself is a bilingual school. Approximately, 15% of their student population is Hispanic. Each activity for the evening was offered in both English and Spanish. Many of the families who attended the event were not aware of Patient First, despite our Denbigh center being approximately 1 mile from the school.   Holland Elementary School Champions World Autism Month

  April is World Autism Month, but Holland Elementary School Champions Students with Special Needs Every Month Each year, Patient First provides a monetary gift to schools near our centers. In Lower Bucks County Pennsylvania near our Feasterville center, Holland Elementary school used their gift to purchase adaptive physical education equipment. The new equipment is now enabling children with autism and a variety of other special needs to participate fully in gym activities. The school provided a “demonstration day” and invited us out to show us how our gift was put to such good use. They even invited Miss Pennsylvania Meghan Sinisi along to check things out. Meghan is an advocate for children with Autism and the founder of her own 501c3 organization, “From a New Perspective” which provides assistance to families and individuals on the autism spectrum by identifying resources and promoting autism appreciation through educational efforts.   PEP Meeting at Leesburg Elementary School

  On January 11, we had the privilege of participating in a PEP(Parents as Educational Partners) meeting at Leesburg Elementary School, marking the beginning of our partnership with them. The PEP meetings serve as a crucial outreach to the community, engaging parents with valuable information.  This month’s focus was on health, featuring a presentation by the school nurse addressing important topics on when not to send children to school. I presented our “Are You Too Sick for School” information. Approximately 65 parents attended the event with their children, creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere. Following my presentation and the nurse’s session, there was a Zumba class. Additionally, the school provided food and free winter clothing, emphasizing their commitment to the community’s well-being.  The event served as a powerful connection with the community, fostering positive relationships and reinforcing our commitment to the well-being of Leesburg Elementary School and its families.

  James W. Lilley, Jr. Elementary School

  James W. Lilley, Jr. Elementary School There’s no denying that since March 2020, the pandemic has taken its toll on the emotional health of students and educators everywhere. James W. Lilley, Jr. Elementary School in South Jersey, near our Sicklerville center, tackled things head on and sought ways to raise spirits. Accordingly, the have established a “PRIDE” (Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Effort) program at the school; and, they are recognizing student achievements each month. Patient First’s donation helped the school purchase “Paw Power” spirit wear T-shirts for PRIDE student leaders. Each month Lilley students are excited to learn who will be recognized from each classroom and rewarded with a special luncheon and their T-shirt. Many students have already been recognized, and this program will continue throughout the school year. Students have been excited to wear their T-shirts during the last Friday each month which is “Spirit Day” at the school.   Community Partners: Nitrauer Elementary School

  Every year, Patient First selects two elementary schools near each of its 77 centers as a community partner in an effort to further support the health and growth of neighborhood it serves. Our partnership begins with a donation to the school to fund projects or programs that directly benefit the students of each of our partner schools, but it doesn't end there. We continue to engage with the faculty, students and parents at each of these schools through community events like back-to-school nights, family resource nights, health and wellness fairs, school fun runs, and even fall and spring festivals. This week, we are showcasing Nitrauer Elementary as our Partner School of the Week. Located just minutes from our Lancaster center, Nitrauer has been a committed partner with Patient First for several years. This year, Patient First will be helping Nitrauer Elementary fund student assemblies, and a program of lunches recognizing good student behavior, culminating in a recognition of outstanding students for each quarter.   Things Are Blooming At Uwchlan Hills Elementary School's Garden Club

  What started as an Eagle Scout project and construction of flower boxes at Uwchlan Hills Elementary School in Downingtown, PA has grown into something much larger. Through a monetary gift from Patient First, this project continues to bloom and grow, with harvests produced throughout the year benefitting the school's "Helping Hands" families as well as the Chester County Food Bank. Each season 40 to 50 students in first, second and third grades participate in "Garden Club" where they hear gardening stories, assist with planting, weeding, watering and cutting flowers for bouquets. They also help with weighing and bagging veggies the garden produces at harvest time. School principal Robert Giering along with two faculty advisors, Ms. Kate Cool (second grade teacher), and Ms. Alicia Reiner (first grade teacher) lead the project from school staff. School families and parent volunteers also help the program continue to thrive. Two parents have been particularly instrumental with this project - Heather Landgarden and Ali Bruenderman.
