Who said food shouldn’t be played with? Getting children to eat their fruits and vegetables can be a harder task than it sounds! Luckily these Halloween treats are not only fun to make but fun to eat, too!

Witches Broom Sticks

What you’ll need: Cheese sticks and pretzel sticks.
How to assemble: Cut cheese sticks into thirds and insert pretzel stick for the broom handle. Use scissors or a knife (not for little ones to handle!) to cut a fringe pattern into the far end of the cheese to resemble the bristles of a broom.

Boo-nanas

What you’ll need: Bananas, mini chocolate chips, and regular-sized chocolate chips.
How to assemble: Peel and slice bananas in half, and stand each banana up on its flat end. Have your kiddo press two mini chocolate chips into the top of the banana for eyes as well as a full sized chip for a spooky ghost mouth.

Clementine Pumpkins

What You’ll Need: Peeled clementines and cut celery.
How to assemble: Insert a small cut of celery into the top of the clementine to resemble the stem of a pumpkin.

Veggie Skeleton Tray

What you’ll need: Fresh-cut vegetables such as celery, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, and cucumbers.
How to assemble: The leg bone’s connected to the knee bone, the knee bone’s connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone’s connected to the hip bone…you get the picture! Just lay out the veggies in the shape of a spooky skeleton!

Spider Sandwiches

What you’ll need: Whole wheat bread, thin carrot strips, pretzels, and raisins.
How to assemble: Using a cookie cutter, cut bread into circles to create the body of the spider. Add either four pretzels or carrot strips for creepy-crawly legs. And two raisins for the eyes and voila – spooky spider sandwiches!

Bread Bones

What you’ll need: Refrigerated breadstick dough and salt.
How to assemble: Cut the dough into long strips, slit each end, and fold the flaps on the end of the stick to resemble a bone. Add a little salt and serve with a healthy spinach dip or soup!

Monster Mouths

What you’ll need: An apple, slivered almonds, nut butter, strawberries, and either edible eyeballs.
How to assemble: Cut an apple into extra thick slices. Turn the apple peel-side up, cut out a wedge for a mouth, and fill with your favorite nut butter. Break almonds in half to use as monster teeth. Use a little bit of nut butter to stick the edible eyeballs onto the top of the apple slice. Finish with a slice of strawberry in the middle of the “mouth” (thin side pointing out) to act as a spooky monster tongue.

Mummy Hot-dogs

What you’ll need: Biscuit dough and hot dogs.
How to assemble: Use a pizza cutter to slice the dough into thin, long strips. Wrap the dough around the hotdog, made to look like the wrappings on a mummy. Bake at 375°F for 14 minutes. Add some dots of mustard or ketchup for eyes and chow down!

Spiders on a Log

What you’ll need: Celery, peanut butter, and raisins or edible eyeballs.
How to assemble: Fill the inside ridge of sliced celery with peanut butter. Add some raisins for spiders or edible eyeballs for a spook factor, then get crunching!
